Welcome to my website! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Tennessee State University (TSU). I currently teach Statics, Mechanics of Materials (Lecture and Lab), Structural Testing (Lab), Soil Mechanics Lab, Engineering Graphics, and also Undergraduate Physics. My teaching experience at TSU has been enriching in terms of sharing, discussing and executing ideas with students.
My research interests are in the areas of mechanical modeling, experimental characterization, and structure-property relationships for materials. Applying both experimentation and modeling, I like to study how microstructure and chemistry influence the macroscopic mechanical behavior of biological tissues, polymers, as well as granular media. I am working on higher order continuum deformation measures and their work conjugate stresses from the results of molecular dynamics simulation. Currently, I have applied this approach to deformation of crystalline solids at high temperatures to quantify the contribution of thermal vibration to their mechanical behavior.
